CERAMIC

Ceramics, a technique particularly developed in the 20th century, is now in vogue for kitchen worktops, wall coverings and pavements.

It uses materials based on oxides, carbides, nitrides, etc... A ceramic material is solid at room temperature and is neither metallic nor organic.

The ceramic objects are produced by solidification at high temperature of a wet plastic paste (mineral glasses), or sintering (agglutination by heating) of a previously compressed dry powder, without passing through a liquid phase (polycrystalline ceramics).
